Nested Timelines
 

Organize projects and speed up your workflow with nested timelines that you create from any events in your main timeline. Smart Split Edit
 
 
 

Removing sections of clips means one thing: jump cuts. Now, VEGAS has you covered with Smart Split. Choose the section you want to remove, and Smart Split not only removes it, but transitions the remaining events together and hides the jump cut with the new Warp Flow transition. A great, easy way to hide jump cuts.

Dynamic storyboard and timeline interaction

The dynamic storyboard workflow might just change the way you edit from now on. Quickly assemble rough cuts and alternate versions in an uncomplicated storyboard environment. Changes made to the main storyboard are reflected instantaneously in the timeline. In reverse, edits on the timeline can be synchronized to the storyboard with only one click, or automatically. Additional storyboards can also be created and used for experimental edits, alternate sequencing, or to keep track of different sections within your video.

Bézier Masking OFX-Plug-in
 
 

With the powerful, flexible Bézier Masking plug-in, you can create up to five different masks, using oval, rectangle or custom shapes. These can then either cut a section of the video out to reveal different video beneath, or have an effect applied within them – such as color grading or blur – making it possible to blur someone’s face while leaving the rest of the video in focus. Used in conjunction with the new motion tracker, the mask can move along with an object during the course of the video.

Visualize Stabilization motion tracks

Stabilization can be a bit of a “dark art.” But now the Motion Track visualization tool helps take the mystery out of establishing your optimal stabilization settings. Project location persistence

When you close a project, VEGAS Pro remembers exactly where you left the cursor on the timeline. The next time you open that project, VEGAS Pro automatically returns to the cursor position so that you don’t ever have to spend another minute trying to remember where you left off.

Storyboard improvements

Storyboards are great, and they just got even better. Now create separate storyboards for each nested timeline in your project. Add the same media file to a storyboard multiple times with independent in and out points. Take your rough cutting to the next level.

Exportable/importable Preference

Export your customized preference settings easily and quickly. Then, import them into VEGAS Pro on different machine. Or, export them before you upgrade your software to a new version, and then import them once the new version is installed. You don’t ever have to spend your time manually resetting your preferences again.

Incremental project save

VEGAS Pro can automatically save a new project each time you save. This enables you to experiment with creative ideas and simply switch back to a “safe” version of the project if you don’t like the results of your experiment.

Temporarily Ignore Event Grouping When Moving Event

Sometimes the perfect edit means moving a group of events all at once. But sometimes you need to move only one or two and leave the others. Now you can temporarily ignore event grouping instantly to make your edit, while the events stay permanently grouped.

Display event length on event

Now you have the option to display the exact length of your event right on the event itself. What’s more, you can also manually change the length value right in the display to adjust the length of the event with no need for dragging ends or manually counting frames.

Delete Track Warning
 

We’ve all had the unpleasant surprise of finding we deleted a clip from our timeline because we didn’t realize it was on a track we deleted. Avoid that from now on! VEGAS Pro now warns you if the track you’re deleting contains any media. No more accidents – know that you’re safe.
